Emergency Housing Assistance (EHA)
The EHA program assists households in Orange County that have experienced a life-changing event in the last 3 months which affects the household's ability to pay rent. If a member of the household who contributes to rent has experienced a death, illness, or loss of job, you are eligible to apply. Additionally, if you have received a court summons from the magistrate in small claims court, you are also eligible. You will need to provide documentation of your life-changing event or eviction in order to receive assistance.
The following points are extremely important to understand:
- INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE DENIED. PLEASE WAIT UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTATION BEFORE SUBMITTING APPLICATION
- DUE TO LIMITED FUNDS, THE EHA PROGRAM WILL ONLY BE ABLE TO ASSIST 12 HOUSEHOLDS PER MONTH. WE ARE UNABLE TO CONFIRM IN WHICH MONTH YOUR HOUSEHOLD MAY BE ASSISTED.
- ONLY HOUSEHOLDS EARNING 30% AMI AND BELOW ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE ASSISTED (E.G., $32,000 FOR A FAMILY OF 4)... A FULL LIST OF AMIs CAN BE FOUND HERE
If you need help with your application, you can get many questions answered at Submitter Resource Center or Submittable Customer Support. You can also email the Housing Helpline at housinghelp@orangecountync.gov.
